DRAWING & PAINTING CLASSES FOR ADULTS - Instructor, Char Avrunin. Beginning, intermediate, and advanced students are welcome. Char calls them artists and artists-in-training. Private lessons are also available. Char uses the PROTIQUEtm method of instruction. Drawing classes meet on Mondays from 1:00-4:00. Tuition is $55 for a 6-week term or $10 per class.
Beginners through advanced are welcome. Beginners will work with drawing implements, surfaces, blenders, erasers and work with basic shapes. Intermediates will learn values, textures, folds, negative space, drawing upside down, 2-D as opposed to 3-D, drawing shapes with a drape, vanishing point and griding. Advanced will cover Golden Mean (focal point), composition, 1, 2 & 3 point perspective, landscape and portrait techniques, framing and showing your work.
Painting classes meet Tuesdays from 1:00-4:00. Tuition is $55 for a 6-week term or $10 per class.
Beginners will learn about acryllic, oil and watercolor: surfaces, brushes, paint, pallettes, pallette knives, so they may make an informed choice as to which media they would like use. They will also learn beginning color theory and make a color wheel. They will paint from life or photographs using value, shape and color. Intermediates will learn more color theory and value (using the Munsell Color Theory Chart), color temperature, saturation, hue, chroma, texture, glazing, and scumbling. Advanced will learn plein air, alla prima painting, grisaille and sfumato techniques, while continuing to work from life or photographs.

ED KELLEY, "This course will consist of 4 classroom sessions and one on-location outing. The classes are geared toward those with DSLR, advanced point & shoot, or mirrorless cameras, or any digital camera that has a manual mode or manual override. The core principles will be the same. Class size is limited to 12 with a minimum of 6 participants to allow for as much individual instruction as possible, as I want each person to know the functions of their cameras.
